MassTrac in Your Inbox
In the fast-moving world of Massachusetts politics, staying ahead means keeping track of dozens, and even sometimes hundreds, of developments at once. But sifting through committee schedules, bill text updates, press releases, and news coverage can easily become a full-time job.
That’s where MassTrac comes in. Instead of hunting down information across countless websites, your entire legislative universe arrives neatly packaged in a single email called the Daily Alert. You can also opt in for email alerts on specific offerings at different frequencies.
The Daily Alert is Everything You Need, All in One Place
The Daily Alert informs you of bills, amendments, and budget line items you may want to track; actions taken to previously tracked items, legislators and committees you may want to track, as well as actions on them. Every Daily Alert is built around what you track. Whether it’s bills, committees, legislators, agencies, or specific issues, you’ll see:
New Bills or Amendments to Track
Actions on Tracked Bills – Bill action alerts are emails you receive when an action is taken on a bill you are tracking. These are generally sent just after an action is loaded to our system. You can select the frequency at which you receive action alerts.
New Bill Text – New text alerts are quick one-line emails you receive when new bill text is loaded to a bill you’re tracking. This can include: “as filed,” “substituted text for a new draft,” “amendment text,” or “enacted text.”
Upcoming Committee & Regulatory Hearings – Never miss a date that matters to your priorities.
Transcripts on Your Keywords and Tracked Items –Transcript alerts are received when a new transcript is added on a bill and/or keyword you’re tracking. You will also be alerted of any legislator who testified at a committee hearing.
News & Press Releases – Filtered coverage and official statements tied directly to your issues.
"Big Bill" & Budget Reports – Reports are quick, one-line emails you receive with links when a new special report is loaded to a bill you’re tracking. They are generally Section-By-Section summaries, comparison reports, or policy reports.
The Daily Journal
The Daily Journal is an overview of everything that happened in the legislature on a specific day. It is not unique to what you are tracking, like the Daily Alert. The emailed version is a digest of yesterday’s actions that is sent at 7 AM EST, prior to the start of business.
Keyword Alerts
Keyword alerts are emails you receive when new content is added that contains your saved keywords. You can choose to receive these alerts on new bill text, amendment text, and transcripts.
Citation Alerts
Statutory citation alerts are emails you receive when new bills are added that contain your saved citations. Citations are helpful as they let you know when a law is mentioned in a new bill or amendment.
Category Alerts
Anytime new bills are added that contain your selected category, you will be notified via email.
Your Legislative Day, Simplified
For lobbyists, advocates, and policy staff, time is the one thing you can’t get back. MassTrac’s Daily Alert and other email alerts turn hours of manual tracking into minutes of review, so you can spend your day influencing outcomes, not chasing updates.
